2017 Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Awards Show

Living in Los Angeles has presented me with endless opportunities within the fashion industry that have allowed me to explore my talents and apply my skill to many different areas. From assisting celebrity stylists with wardrobe pulls to fashion and event PR, I believe I am finding my personal niche within the industry that I want to pursue as a career. My latest gig as a Brand Ambassador for Metropolitan Fashion Week has been my biggest push of confidence in my career path. The show's 5th Annual year, Founder and Director Eduardo Khawam has truly created a masterpiece event within the fashion industry. Showcasing haute couture gowns and formal wear created by designers all over the world, there is no limit to the creativity that has been put into this show. Not only were fashion fanatics from all over the world able to experience a fun night of couture, but MFW has committed to the cause of collecting 1 million school supplies for schools recently devastated by the natural disasters in Texas. Here are a few of my favorite creations from a few designers at the 2017 Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Award Show:

Giovanni Testi
had these models looking fabulous in custom couture tuxedo jackets while they rocked the runway during his show. Of course, I can appreciate chiseled men in fitted suits, so you can bet I was a fan of this collection.

Above, Metropolitan Fashion Week Founder and Director Eduardo Khawam hosts the event in the Giovanni Testi sequinned tuxedo jacket. Talk about one fabulous-looking man!

Of course, I had to include a shot with some of my favorite models. Looking stunning in couture Giovanni Testi tuxedo jackets, they rocked the runway during a show that was definitely a crowd favorite. I had the pleasure of working along side of the men in red as they handled themselves with poise, it was a natural walk for them in the sophisticated suits.

Inspired by the French Bed - Paris, Giovanni Testi does a great job capturing the color schemes from his inspiration in creating this masterpiece.

ERICK BENDANA

 Julie Danforth
A masterpiece that was inspired by A Sawn Among the Reeds. Definitely one of my favorite designs of the night because of its classic elegance and its ability to be relatable to myself as something I would choose to wear to a black tie event.

 RICARDO SOLTERO
sought inspiration from the Heraldic Panel with the Arms of the Eberler Family in creating this couture piece.

Douglas Tapia
took architectural inspiration from The Getty Villa and turned it into couture gowns.

Niveen Heaton co-hosted the Metropolitan Fashion Closing Gala and Awards Show and looked fabulous in two couture gowns designed by Douglas Tapia. Both looks made her look like classic elegance as she rocked the Step and Repeat and shined glamorously on stage to host the event.

Next to her, Eduardo Khawam rocks another couture tuxedo jacket designed by Giovanni Testi.

Kicka
also took architectural inspiration from the Getty Museum and crafted this one-of-a-kind masterpiece which made the audience swoon.

Although my gown was not one-of-a-kind nor anywhere close to couture, it was enough for me. I have recently started working for ANGL and was able to obtain a simple classy look for the event. The shows were stupendous and I am forever grateful to the entire production team at Metropolitan Fashion Week for bringing me on board and giving me the opportunity to assist in a portion of running the show! I am blessed by the opportunities I have been part of and I am proud to look up to someone like Eduardo who founded MFW with barely $300 in his pocket and a dream. This show is going to grow into something spectacular and I am excited to take you all along on this journey with me. I appreciate the support from both coasts as I am just a young girl with a dream finding where I am meant to be.

3 Ways to Rock an Oversized Button Down

ADD SIMPLE DETAIL  WITH YOUR FAVORITE PAIR OF RIPPED JEANS. THE SHIRT IS MID-THIGH LENGTH, SO TUCKING IN ONE SIDE IS ANOTHER SIMPLE FLARE TO ADD DETAIL AND SHOW OFF THE CONTRAST BETWEEN THE JEANS AND THE BOOTS. OBSESSED WITH MY  DISTRESSED HIGH-WAISTED SHORTS FROM  roxy.com  BECAUSE THEY ARE SO VERSATILE. SIMPLY TUCK IN THE FRONT OF THE SHIRT TO CREATE A POCKET-LIKE DETAIL. SO SIMPLE, YET SO EFFECTIVE. I WOULD WEAR THIS TO WORK AT ANGL AND THEN AT NIGHT TO THE CLUB. VERSATILE SIMPLICITY. ROCK IT ON ITS OWN! IT IS LONG ENOUGH TO BE A DRESS, SO WEAR IT JUST AS THAT! IT IS SO SIMPLE AND THE THIGH-HIGH BOOTS ADD ALL THE EDGE YOU NEED TO THIS OUTFIT.

Hey, Young People

I have never felt stronger about independence until I took a leap and United Airlines 2,360 miles and planted myself in Los Angeles, California from the small town of Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Do not get me wrong, I have always felt myself to be self-sufficient and independent: started working when I was 14 years old, relied on myself to carry my own burden of emotions as well as help others push through their own. However, independence took on an entirely new meaning for me when I learned to build a new life for myself, completely starting over. It’s amazing to me that I hear “I can’t believe you did that.. you’re so brave!... good for you... I could never do that”. I literally just think to myself: ‘well why not?’ I honestly believe that more people should do it. Yes, I am talking to the young souls who feel trapped in the circumstances that they find themselves simply because comfort and fear hinder them from reaching out. However, I see too many people unhappy in the predicament...
